The dash PJ&Foals

30 September 07

Tonight was going to be a challenge, Two gigs , 3 counties apart, 3 hours to do it (clue mission impossible music....)

First up, PJ Harvey at the Royal Festival Hall, South of the river, London. Took me 45minutes to find a parking space then cost me £5.30 for an hours parking. Got to shoot songs 3,4 & 5. PJ was Very good and then made the dash. Sav nav on I motored up the M11 and arrived 10min before the chaos unfolded, lol.

My destination, Cambridge, reason, a Foals House Party! This was just something, completely mind blowing and very hot. Let me set the scene. 80 crazed alcohol educed kids in a dinning/kitchen area. Hanging off fridges and sofa's, pack in, dancing while the most important band of next year ripping through an instrumental set. It was awesome and highly recommended. Left that house buzzing. Wish you had been there Greg, you would of loved it!

Truck

23 September 07

Heading down the M4 today for 'Truck' a music festival held in Oxfordshire on a small farm, prob about 5,000 people. Wicked event and the 10th Times its run. No rip off prices, great local home grown music and of course, those who played years ago come back to support the event years later. Saw some very cool stuff like Blood red Shoes, and Foals playing in a Barn! really cool festival, and the sun was out. [Clockwise: Foals, Blood Red Shoes, Crowd, Fuck Buttons]

Kosheen

19 September 07

Down to koko this eve, after seeing my mate Dan in Old Street and a sneaky pint. Kosheen had a good album a few years back, cant help but think they've lost it a little. Bad lights, no flash allowed = photographers sad.

I know this is not technically the best photo, but theres something about it that captures this guy how he is. Newton Faulkner supported John Mayer @ Royal Albert Hall, and I was the only snapper there to catch him. He's good, but he cover of Massive Attact's Tear Drop is nothing on Jose Gonzalez's one!

John mayer

18 September 07

Live at the Royal Albert hall. What an amazing venue, and tonight John Mayer, not commonly known in the UK but massive state side and in Australia. Such a great Guitarist and showman.  I made this one of these shots black and white because I shot John Mayer  in the very first few months of shooting properly, I had one shot in particular that was just stunning in black and white. Amazing gig, always reminds me on Sydney and especially my friend brad..(emo john mayer), miss you guys!

14 September 07

Down to Kings Cross last night to see mr Josh Ritter, he was really good, check him out if you have a min, playing at Shepard's bush later in the year. I love a bit of singer/song writer. I squeezed into a small gap at the front of the stage, my feet went totally dead from sitting on them all gig out of peoples way, I could hardly walk when I left!

This is a shot of Australian singer/song writer Josh Pyke when he was on tour here earlier this year. Dug it out to play about with post-production and thought it looked quite nice.

the go team

13 September 07

Double wammy tonight, jobs to shoot to bands...Good job they were in the same venue, which was nice and handy. First if was Caribou for NME's Radar Live section and then The Go! Team, both at the Electric Ballroom in Camden. Caribou was fine because I could use flash, but The Go@ Team was SO bad lighting and we were told specificity no flash. Low light and washes of with red or blue, The majority of photos I took were poor, and only good enough for a B+W set really. Shame because they sounded quite good (for the first 3 songs before all the photographers got booted out the fire escape!)

Modest

05 September 07

Tonight i met my friend dan for a fancy burger then off to the Forum for Modest Mouse. Long story short, half the photographers were  not on a list...something you dont really expect when dealing with one of the biggest record companies in the world. Finally got in as the band started to find there was no pit either, so in the crowd we all went, not amazing results!
